First Step House of Orange County Hosts Successful Annual Chili Cookout
Community Event Raises Over $3,000 for Men’s Recovery Programs

 

Costa Mesa, CA – On Sunday, September 22, 2024,  the First Step House of Orange County held its annual Chili Cookout at Estancia Park in Costa Mesa, bringing together 250 members of the community for a day filled with fun, food, and fundraising. The event featured five chili entrants competing for the coveted top three spots, alongside barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs in an all-you-can-eat feast for attendees.

Participants enjoyed the festive atmosphere with door prizes, a raffle, and a thrilling 50/50 drawing. The event was priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children, making it an affordable, family-friendly occasion. The cookout successfully raised over $3,000, all of which will directly support the First Step House of Orange County’s mission to assist men in their recovery from alcoholism and integration back into society.

The chili competition was a highlight of the day, with the following participants taking home top honors:

  1. First Place:  Yellowstone
  2. Second Place: BBC Group
  3. Third Place: Broadway House
